Bismillah.
"I love you with all my heart."
"My love to you is greater than any kinds of love you find in this world."
"I love you sincerely."
"No one can beat my love towards you."
"Nobody can love you passionately as I do."
Various love expressions or in other words "love chants" we hear when a couple of lovers are in deep love to one another. But the question is, how deep their love towards their beloved? By raising this question, there are a few more questions that I would like to ask these sort of people.
What is love to you?
How much you know and understand the creature called L.O.V.E.?
What is the base or the foundation of your love towards the person?
What do you usually do to prove your love towards the person?
Do you think your love is a true love?
Honestly speaking, there are a lot more to ask about this creature because it is very subjective. In addition, I bet only those people who really comprehend the meaning of L.O.V.E. not just semantically but pragmatically could explain what L.O.V.E. is all about. Well, as a Linguistic student I can say that they are several distinctions between semantics and pragmatics and one of it is when you look at the word PRAGMATICS, it means that it refers to something which is "more being communicated than is said." That's how pragmatics works and in this case, to me, L.O.V.E. is something that is "more being communicated than is said" and unfortunately, not all people can truly understand the hidden meaning of L.O.V.E. which is to me, quite pity.
Well, I hope I'm not one of them who does not really know what L.O.V.E. truly means because I'm still learning about it and I am going to learn all about L.O.V.E. continuously towards the end of my life. Because I hope that with my understanding of L.O.V.E. it will guide me to the love towards Allah SWT and Prophet Muhammad SAW, so that it will help me love others which are also important to us, say my mother, my family and all my friends in Islam.
Let me just share with you some of my thoughts regarding this creature called L.O.V.E.
1) Love from the first sight is not exactly a true love for a true love consumes a longer time to blossom.
2) Love is not something that money can buy. It is precious and valuable.
3) The real love can only be gotten when the affections between two lovers are based on their loves towards the Creator.

(Inspired by Ibn Hazm's writing titled, "Falling in Love.")
So, these are my own interpretations of L.O.V.E.
I don't know, but perhaps most of you have different connotations of the word L.O.V.E. but whatever it is these are what I believe what L.O.V.E. is and these are the basic foundations of L.O.V.E. in order to reach the highest level of L.O.V.E., which is to love Allah and His prophet more than anything else in this world.

interesting, I often ponder about this as well... I know the love one has for a family but as for the 'soulmate' kind, i can only guess what it is like. I suppose it is when one is truly committed to make the relationship work. You care about a person to the point where you are willing to make sacrifices in order to make it work. You set your goals aside for a more noble cause. And you do it for for Allah SWT and in turn you receive the warmth and security that love brings.. And all the things you gave up will seem like nothing coz it is always worth it in the end..
so true mizah. but do u know that it is so painful to see a person whom we make a lot of sacrifices to neglect us and turn away from us, or in other words they don't bother us at all. it's not that we're not sincere in making sacrifice for him/her, but it feels like our efforts to make him/her happy seems doesn't important to him/her at all and they never appreciate it. i feel this all the time T.T
